day one austin to LA roadtrip with my lovely brother.
i woke up early before our 5:30am departure to put together these salads of organic greens, dried cranberries, goat feta, cherry tomatoes, carrots, a boiled egg, smoked sea salt and pepper, with lemon wedges for dressing.
i bought the cute personal cutlery roll at the bust magazine holiday craftacular in nyc in december. came with the silverware but i added the chopsticks. it's perfect for on-the-go eating, and doesn't have to be thrown out! i bought my brother a roll too, and he has since said he carries it around in his backpack while he's on campus. i also got that cute little bottle of olive oil as part of a gift, which came in handy on this salad.
it was a lovely road lunch, if only they could all be so healthy and fresh.

hi, you always use goat feta vs. just feta--what's the difference?
you can use whatever feta you like. i actually prefer sheep's milk feta, it's tangier and sharper. traditionally, feta is made from a combination of goat and sheep's milk, but here in the US cow's milk feta is usually the cheapest and easiest to find.
