road lunch
day one austin to LA roadtrip with my lovely brother.
i woke up early before our 5:30am departure to put together these salads of organic greens, dried cranberries, goat feta, cherry tomatoes, carrots, a boiled egg, smoked sea salt and pepper, with lemon wedges for dressing.
i bought the cute personal cutlery roll at the bust magazine holiday craftacular in nyc in december. came with the silverware but i added the chopsticks. it's perfect for on-the-go eating, and doesn't have to be thrown out! i bought my brother a roll too, and he has since said he carries it around in his backpack while he's on campus. i also got that cute little bottle of olive oil as part of a gift, which came in handy on this salad.
it was a lovely road lunch, if only they could all be so healthy and fresh.

photos from the road trip
from austin to LA: it was more of a 2-day, 21-hour 'drive' than a road trip, per se. and unfortunately for him, my brother had to do all of the driving, for despite my valid NY state drivers license, and being insured and all, i don't really have all that much driving experience. this always catches people off guard, i guess it's surprising, but i haven't had much reason or opportunity to drive the past many a year, so it just hasn't really happened.
